What is ECU remapping?
ECU remapping is the process of modifying the software inside your vehicle's Engine Control Unit (ECU) to optimize performance, improve fuel efficiency, and enhance throttle response. We safely adjust parameters like fuel injection, turbo boost pressure, and ignition timing to unlock your engine's true potential.
How long does a remap take?
Most OBD remaps take 1-2 hours from start to finish. Bench remaps can take 3-4 hours as they require ECU removal. We perform a full diagnostic check before and after the remap to ensure everything is working perfectly.
Will remapping affect my warranty?
If your vehicle is still under manufacturer warranty, a remap may affect warranty claims related to the engine or drivetrain. However, many of our customers are outside their warranty period. We can discuss your specific situation when you call or visit.
Is ECU remapping safe for my engine?
Yes, when done professionally. We use the latest Alientech KESS3 Master equipment and work within safe parameters for your specific engine. Our remaps are thoroughly tested and won't cause premature wear when the vehicle is properly maintained.
What's the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2?
Stage 1 is a software-only upgrade that works with your stock hardware and provides noticeable gains in power and torque. Stage 2 requires supporting modifications (like exhaust or intake upgrades) and offers more significant performance improvements.
Can you remap any vehicle?
We can remap most petrol and diesel vehicles, subject to ECU type. Modern vehicles from 2000 onwards are generally suitable. Some older or very new vehicles may have limitations. Call us with your registration number and we'll confirm compatibility.
Will a remap improve fuel economy?
Yes, economy remaps can improve fuel efficiency by 15-20% when driven normally. Even performance remaps often result in better MPG because the engine doesn't need to work as hard to achieve the same results.
Can the remap be removed?
Absolutely. We keep a backup of your original ECU file, so we can restore your vehicle to factory settings at any time. This is useful if you're selling the vehicle or need to return to stock for any reason.
